LISTED WORK OF ART
Exhibited:
Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Selection from Private Collections, Bp. October - November 1981. no. 57.
Reproduction:
Selection from Private Collections, Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Budapest, cat: Bogár Imre, picture 57. page 195.
Citing from Agnes Szigethi:
'The painting here is one example of the several well-known variations of the composition attributed to Abraham Janssen.(Lille Musée des Beux-Arts, no.414, Tilburg, Private Collection, 1974. I. 460. reproduced by Knipping, 1940. II. 158.)The master, whose painting was created with ample details, seemingly cherished the memory of Mannerism in his culture, not only in the bold composition and the rigid treatment of the female figure but so much more in the art for art\'s sake arrangement of draperies. The variation exhibited in Budapest is an excellent quality.'
Selection from Private Collections - Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Budapest, cat: Bogár Imre, page 68.
