A M. Kir. Kereskedelem- és Közlekedésügyi Minisztérium tervei alapján és irányítása mellett építették: Zsigmondy Béla, vitéz Cséry Miklós, Magyar Általános Útépítő Rt., Magyar Waggon és Gépgyár Rt., Palatinus Építő és Ingatlanforgalmi Rt.
A medvei Duna-híd megépítését a visszacsatolt Felvidék Magyarország közlekedésébe való becsatolása tette szükségessé.
