Tibor Porkoláb, in his study „Szempontok a francia háborúk inszurrekciós költészetének textológiai és filológiai vizsgálatához” (Aspects for the Textological and Philological Examination of the Insurrectional Poetry of the French Wars) (in Czifra Mariann-Szilágyi Márton: Textológia-filológia-értelmezés. Debrecen, 2014), notes: “It is not surprising that the dating of Hazafiui serkentés, published without place and date, is uncertain: Géza Petrik’s bibliography dates it to 1797, Császár places it among the texts of the 1809 insurrection, while – judging from references to the ‘recent’ battles (‘Mantua’ and ‘Austria’) – the pamphlet rather encourages the insurgents of 1800.”
