Full description

(Bécs, 1809.) n.p. 36p.
Napoleon’s famous proclamation, long attributed to Batsányi or József Márton, in fact translated from the French by the latter. Another variant, with imprint of Pichler in Vienna, is known – this copy lacks imprint. Likely the earlier issue intended for distribution to local authorities, as indicated by the upper left corner mark (3395. 1809.). A slightly altered version was printed later in Buda. Although probably printed in large numbers, most copies were destroyed by Austrian authorities. Extremely rare – we have found no record of a copy at auction.
According to a handwritten note in the volume, it was intended for publication in the villages along the Homoród River (Újfalu, Oklánd, Karácsonyfalva).
Modern hardpaper.
