Oldalszámozáson belül Édouard Zier 46 egész oldalas, és 44 szövegközi illusztrációjával. Pierre Louӱs (1870–1925) francia író, erotikus történetek szerzője, az első, aki irodalmi munkásságáért elnyeri a francia Becsületrendet. A könyv igazi szenzáció volt a századvégi Franciaországban, az először 1896-ban megjelent erotikus történelmi regény 350 000-nél is több példányban kelt el, és csak az első évben 16-nál is több újranyomása volt. Magyarul először 1897-ben jelent meg. A történet az ókori Alexandriában játszódik, antik kurtizán főhőssel, nem kevés teret adva a leszbikus szerelem témájának.
Korabeli, díszes, dúsan aranyozott gerincű, vörös félmaroquin kötésben, felül aranyozott lapszélekkel. Szép példány.
