Oldalszámozáson belül egész oldalas és szövegközti képekkel gazdagon illusztrált. Maurice Loir (1852–1924) francia tengerésztiszt, újságíró, történész. Második jelentős munkája ez a francia haditengerészetről megjelent műve.
Díszes, dúsan aranyozott gerincű, álbordás kiadói piros félmaroquin kötésben, felül aranyozott lapszélekkel. Szép példány.
