Ganz Beschreibung

… Theses prooemiales logicae Propugnaret... Paulus Okolicsanyi... Praeside Joanne Szegedi... Auditoribus Oblatus.
Tyrnaviae, 1732. Typis Academicis per Leopoldum Berger. 1pl(s). (engraved title page)+(36)+109+(79)p.
The first independent work on the Holy Crown was first published in 1613, and this is its fourth edition. The author was crown guard between 1608 and 1622. He is referred to as a follower of Justus Lipsius and the first – and most original – Hungarian representative of state theory from the perspective of the estates. The restoration of his position as crown guard was one of the achievements of class politics, as the crown, considered a symbol of the noble nation, had been kept abroad by the Habsburgs for a long time before 1608. His work is considered a direct precursor to Baroque class ideology. His critical approach to historiography is mixed with his unconditional belief in the legends and mystical power of the crown's origins. Its popularity is indicated by the fact that it was reprinted several times in the 17th century. From a cultural history perspective, the description of the crown makes it noteworthy. Révay believed he had discovered the Virgin Mary on one of the plates, while István Weszprémi described the figure of the Byzantine ruler Mihály Dukász, which can still be seen today, in 1790. Those who believe that the entire crown was donated to St. Stephen by Pope Sylvester II refer to Révay. The proponents of the prevailing view today, according to which two separate parts were joined together, claim that the crown guard was mistaken. The prevailing view today is that two separate parts were joined together, and that the crown guard was mistaken.
Contemporary leather.
