(Schad, Johann Adam Xaver) - Effigies Ducum et Regum Hungariae. In applausu(m) oblatae, dum Iosephus Coronatus Hungariae Rex Laetatur.
[Bécs], (1687). ny. n. 1 t. (rézmetszetű díszcímlap) + [132] p. + 61 t. (egész oldalas rézmetszet). Imp. Folio. Egyetlen kiadás. Sole edition. The work relates through the lives of the Hungarian kings the history of the Hungarians from the beginnings to Joseph I s accession to the throne. All the Hungarian kings and princes are depicted on the 61 full page copper engravings. The copper engravings illustrating the volume are original proofs of the struts of the Nádasdy-Mausoleum which were printed into wide frames decorated with allegorical figures based on the motives of the original Mausoleum made by Elias Nessenthaler, engraver in Augsburg, based on the drawings of Sigmund Schott. The original series were enlarged by Nessenthaler with the portraits of Leopold I and Joseph I. Half leather binding with ornately gilt spine, painted page edges, made in the second half of the 18th century. Fine, clean copy, rare work.
