Fordította Mártonffy Frigyes. A IX. rész hiányzik.
Amikor Ponson du Terrail (1829 –1871), francia író, 1857-ben belevágott a Rocambole-sorozat első regényének, a L'Héritage Mystérieux (más néven Les Drames de Paris) megírásába a La Patrie című napilap számára, csupán Eugène Sue Les Mystères de Paris című bestsellerének sikerét akarta lemásolni. A Rocambole meg is hozta szerzőjének a hírnevet, ahogy irodalomtörténeti jelentőséget is kapott: a gótikus regényből a modern hősi regénybe való átmenetet képviseli. A rocambolesque kifejezés azóta is használatos a fantasztikus kalandok megjelölésére. A kilencedik kötetet a szerző már nem tudta befejezni.
Egységes félvászon kötésben. Szép példány.
