Munkája mind a mai napig a XVI. század történetének fontos forrása, a XVII-XVIII. század legnépszerűbb hazai történelemkönyve és a főúri és nemesi könyvtárak nélkülözhetetlen darabja volt. Nemzetközi népszerűségét jelzi, hogy további három kiadása látott napvilágot külföldön. A kiadványnak két variánsa ismert, amelyek a Pázmány Péternek szóló ajánlásban különböznek. Eltér a fejlécdísz, valamint apró különbség található az érseknek szóló címzésben is. Hozzá: Istvánffy Miklós: A magyarok történetéből (Bp.), 1962. Magyar Helikon. 528+(3)p. (Monumenta Hungarica. VI.) Díszesen aranyozott gerincű, XVIII. századi bőrkötésben. A címlap felkasírozva. A gerinc felső sarka javítva. Az utolsó két levél foltos. RMK III 1350.; VD17 23:230761F
