A hétéves háború a XVIII. század legnagyobb katonai konfliktusa volt. Winston Churchill az első világháborúnak titulálta, részben jogosan, hiszen a háború Ausztrália kivételével minden kontinensen dúlt. A kötet az európai hadszíntér nyugati (rajnai) frontjának történetét írja le a brit hadsereg az ütközetekben is részt vevő tisztjének szemszögéből. A háború Európában területi változást nem hozott, a Porosz Királyság meg tudta védelmezni az osztrák örökösödési háborúban megszerzett gazdag tartományt, Sziléziát. Az 1763-as hubertusburgi békeszerződés elismerte Poroszország uralmát Szilézia felett, mely ezzel II. (Nagy) Frigyes király alatt európai nagyhatalommá lépett elő.
Néhol kissé foltos, néhány kihajtható térképen kisebb szakadás, gyűrődés. A levelek egy részének felső sarkán kisebb szúrágás.

Korabeli, kissé kopott, gerincén sérült egészbőr kötésben, fűzése alul meglazult, néhol szétnyílik. Sérülései ellenére teljes, rendes példány, ritka könyv.
