Antonio de Guevara (1480-1545) spanyol püspök, V. Károly császár udvari hitszónoka és történetírója volt. Igen népszerű könyvének első kiadása spanyol nyelven, 1527-ben jelent meg. A latin fordítás 1601-ben készült el, ekkorra már a német, francia, olasz, angol, flamand kiadások is készen voltak. A mű ókori írók, elsosorban Marcus Aurelius császár munkáira támaszkodva fejedelmek és foemberek jó házasságát és gyermekeik helyes nevelését kívánta szolgálni.
Korabeli bőrkötésben, valódi bordás egészbőr-kötésben. 334 mm.
