Beauty, 1896
White earthenware with eosin-glaze, 77 cm.
The model depicts a female member of the Zsolnay family.The statuette is presumably Alajos Strobl\'s work but Szamovelszky Ödön\'s contribution can not be closed out either.
It was designed for the Millennium Exhibition of the Zsolnay Facory in 1896.
According to researchers only one single exemplar had been executed, which was exhibited in the Universal Exposition in Paris.
Later, circa in 1930, it emerged in an auction in Paris, then it has been in obscurity for a long time,up to the present moment.
Signed: Zsolnay Pecs trade mark logo lower at the back, pressed into mass, design no.: 1249, further indistinct marks.
In History of Art it is considered as a very appreciated, museum piece of considerable importance.
