Zsolnay Modern Hanging Plate
Wheel-thrown stoneware with hand-made patterns, surface coated in experimental glazes (the so called “pea glaze” (”borsómáz”) technique, a reinvention and reimplementation of the tiger glaze popular in historicism). Shape and decoration design: István Kovács, 1959-60. Marked on backside: under glaze, three-shields and five-towers branding stamped with green, under it, Made in Hungary in frame, and hand-written paper etiquette label from factory with the inscription “9290/A” (supposedly form number).
