The tragically young poet enriched Hungarian literature with numerous enduring works during his short career. This lot contains three drafts of poems on a single sheet. On one side appears the poem Ébredés alagútban (Awakening in a Tunnel), with numerous corrections, a date (July 12, 1929), and signature. On the other side are the poems Az éjszakák csöndje… (The Silence of Nights…) and Istenem, eljött hozzám... (My God, You Came to Me...), both with corrections, the latter bears a date (January 27, 1930) and signature. The poet’s literary estate is preserved in the Petőfi Literary Museum, and autograph manuscripts of his works are extremely rare on the market. According to available information, none have appeared at auction in the past decade.
