The first comprehensive reference work in Hungarian. Péter Bod was an outstanding Hungarian scholar of the 18th century and a prominent figure of the Protestant church and Protestant literary history. He introduces and evaluates more than 500 Hungarian authors and describes many books in this work. Some of them do not have a single copy that has survived. Bod's work contains twice as much information as Dávid Czvittinger's earlier work in Latin, and it is also much more reliable than its predecessor.
