9. Artikel
Lajos Ady (1881-1940), autograph letter to Zsigmond Móricz, writer.
A true literary curiosity, in which he asks the addressee to publish the next segment of his debate with Béla Révész in the pages of Nyugat. The polemic began with Révész’s article “Ady útja az Ady-versig” (Ady’s Road to His Poetry), published in the June 1, 1932 issue. The two subsequently accused each other of selective memory and even dishonesty. Perhaps the most piquant remark reads: “Poor Bandi once diagnosed Osváth with ‘aggressive impotence’. It seems that this condition is common among ageing Jews”. He asks his friend to speak with Révész so that he would stop threatening him. The matter was ultimately settled with its appearance in the September 1 issue. He then writes about an upcoming meeting and the addressee’s health concerns.
1 written page(s), with letterhead of “A debreceni tankerület kir. főigazgatója”. Handwritten envelope enclosed.
