Pesten, 1817. Trattner János Tamás betűivel. 134p. With coloured vignette on title page. First edition.
Vitkovics, of Serbian origin, was a poet and translator, a central figure of the Reform Era literary life. His home served as a literary salon, and he counted among his friends Pál Szemere and Ferenc Kazinczy. Encouraged by the latter, he published this volume of tales and poems.
Signed, dark yellow leather with black title on spine. The covers decorated with leather inlays depicting a memorable scene from the tale “A’ két pásztor és szamár” (The Two Shepherds and the Donkey). In hardpaper case.
Dimensions: 210 × 135 mm.
