A könyv először 1925-ben jelent meg, jelen kötetünk a harmadik kiadása, amely elsőként tartalmaz 262 egész oldalas illusztrációt a bizánci ikonográfia témájában, hosszú történeti bevezetővel.
Korabeli, aranyozott gerincű, álbordás, bordó félmaroquin kötésben (a hátsó kötéstábla belső felén szignált: Grill), felül aranyozott lapszélekkel, az eredeti, illusztrált papírborítók bekötve. Körülvágatlan, nagyon szép példány.
